morning basket

Let’s chat morning basket (or afternoon/bedtime/whenever basket/tub/bin/box). Morning basket is big in the homeschool world. Similar to morning time or circle time, it’s a great way of starting your homeschool day with connection.

Morning basket can include any topics that are important for your family and can change anytime you like. It can be 10 minutes long or 10 hours long (ha!) - it’s customizable and flexible. During the school year, our morning basket includes a mixture of the following in a loop:

  • Meditation

  • Chapter book read aloud

  • Seasonal books

  • Songs

  • Poetry

  • Geography

  • Emotional Intelligence (EQ)

  • Art History/Appreciation

  • Music History/Appreciation

  • Nature study

  • Games

  • Handicrafts

There are so many fantastic morning basket gurus out there who explain all things morning basket. Definitely check out Jessica Waldock on her blog, YouTube channel, Intagram, and her Facebook group. Pam Barnhill is the original Morning Basket guru. You can find her on her website, podcast, Instagram, and in print.
